Maybe it was the note of panic in my voice due to job deadlines etc on top of the dead computers. To their credit the girl/woman/lady working the authorization desk never gave me any hassle at all. With a dongle there would have been no problems whatsoever. This replacement was a temporary replacement so 2 week later I had to go thru it all AGAIN. The replacement computer from our IT dept died a week later and I had to do it again. I lived thru the hassle of calling to authorize, then later deauthorize, and reauthorize on new computer with version 21 after a computer suddenly died. Me "A dongle, nothing more, NOTHING LESS!"Īfter wasting 45 minutes of his time he admitted defeat and hung up. 6 seats.7 seats.8? What would it take for you to upgrade?"
how about if I give you 5 seats for the same price. Me giving long drawn out description of traveling with laptops, sudden changes on the customers shop floor with their computer, 6 different computers that I use in our shop at any given time, etc etc etc. Him "Tell him dongles are outdated and ALL the NEW software is using software keys to lock the liscence" Him "Tell him we'll give him 4 seats for the same price" They didn't realize that I could hear him hollering instructions to the guy on the phone.
There was a guy in the background coaching the salesman on the phone with me.
I was not busy, I was bored, I decided to see how far they were willing to go to make a sale. BobCad called me a few weeks back trying to get me to "upgrade" to 24.
